While there's responsibility in the teachers who travel to Asian countries, I think the parents and schools need proper education too, to understand they shouldn't be equating whiteness to qualifications to teach English.

I spent 12 years in Japan and saw this happening all the time. Foreign "teachers" can enter Japan under a work visa if they have a college/uni degree in any discipline. A major in chemistry is the same as a major in economics and qualifies you to teach English as a second language. Caucasians would reap the benefits more than people from other ethnicities. An Asian-American born and educated in the US would not be considered a "true" native speaker because they don't look like a "real foreigner" (white). Many black teachers are discriminated against on a daily basis. It was disappointing to see all of this but I learned a lot about biases and stereotypes.
