Totally true! I lived in Japan for 12 years, and when I moved to Canada, I was surprised to hear many people say "never apologize". I'm still disagreeing with the people who have this philosophy of never apologizing. There are situations that need an apology first in order to move on to better things.

I loved your article because it describes the many nuances of Japanese apologies very clearly.
